Flunixin meglumine is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAD) that is significantly analgesic and has a potent anti-inflammatory and antipyretic activity. It is about four times as potent an anti-inflammatory as phenylbutazone in the horse. Despite a (t ½) of only 1.6 in the horse its duration of activity is (24-36h) which mean that a single daily injection is adequate.
Composition: Each 1ml Contains:
-Flunixin (as flunixin meglumine) 50 mg
Indication : analgesic, anti inflammatory and antipyretic activity . its value as adjunct therapy in infections has been established in several trials. It is indicated in musculo-skeletal disorders and visceral pain associated with colic in horses In Cattle, it is recommended in cases of respiratory diseases , mild mastitis & endotoxemia.
Dosage & administration :
-Horses : 1ml/45kg b.w. I.V. I.M. daily for 5 days maximum .
-Cattle : 2ml / 45 Kg b.w. I.V. daily for 5 days maximum .
Withdrawal period:
-Meat : 7 days
-Milk: 36 hours
